Countdown to Thanksgiving: Five Ways in Two Days to help make your Thanksgiving a Celebration.

PSALMS 127:3 Children are an inheritance from the Lord. They are a reward from Him. It's midnight once again and I am pondering if all the plans we have written down for the Thanksgiving weekend are ready to set into motion. In the early stages of this current Thanksgiving blogathon, I told you that Thanksgiving is more than a day; it's an event. Tonight the event has begun. Sons, daughters, cousins, aunts and uncles have started to descend upon the plains of Nebraska. The states are California, Texas, Minnesota, Idaho, Massachusetts, and Maine represented in this turkey tribe. PART OF THE TURKEY FLOCK As. you can see it's ten o'clock and we are getting ready to go watch a cliffhanger Hallm

"Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing." Psalm 100:2 The letter "S" is for ..... SERVING We serve our spouses, family, children, coworkers, friends and strangers on a daily bass, We all serve someone at sometime in someway. But our attitude and how we serve one another is more important than the act of serving. No one wants to be served out of obligation but rather out of love. 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for the Lord loves a cheerful giver." LOVE IN A SALAD Have you ever eaten a salad made with love compared to one made without love? Keep tracking with me here. There is a differenc

Countdown to Thanksgiving: Eight Ways in Eight Days to help make your Thanksgiving a Celebration

If we count down eight days until Thanksgiving I'm going to be celebrating all by myself next Sunday. I am a wee bit behind, and in all honesty, when this idea sprang into my little noggin, I didn't realize how much it would consume me. I should have stuck with a word with fewer letters like "Thanks" or "blessed"....no wait.... "bless", take the "ed" off. There's "turkey" or "bird" or "corn". At least I didn't pick "Cornucopia". But that's STILL fewer letters than "Thanksgiving"! Though I think trying to find a word for the letter "u" in cornucopia would be just as hard as it is trying to think of a Thanksgiving word for the letter "K". Knife: That has an "n" sound to it which to me disqua

Nine Ways in Nine Days to Help Make Your Thanksgiving a Celebration

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:7-10 (NIV) Celebrate Thanksgiving by being in .......... NATURE I love nature and being outdoors. Maybe that's why I love farming so much. Working the fields, or tending to cattle is an opportunity to be in God's classroom everyday with the Lord as our instructor. As a Christian we are called to be His image-bearers: People who reflect and point others to Chri

Countdown to Thanksgiving: Ten Ways in Ten Days to help you make your Thanksgiving a Celebration.

Thanksgiving is a time of feasting, and fellowship. Through fellowship we can encourage one another, laugh together, and maybe even learn something new about each other. Gathering for fellowship is good for the soul. Throughout the years, our Thanksgiving celebration has increased in numbers, ages, and waist bands. The question is how do you make your guests feel welcome while still tending to meal prep? It can sometimes be tricky. The answer: ACTIVITY. Planning intentional activities for the guests before and after the meal helps them feel welcomed. Not everyone is a conversationalist, and activities provide a focal point of something to do rather than relying on the art of conversation al

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths". Proverbs 3:5-6 Celebrate Thanksgiving by celebrating your...... HERITAGE Dad Proverbs 3: 5-6 was my Dad's favorite Bible verse. He loved the Lord, his family and he loved agriculture. Farming gave my dad a platform to help his children see and experience God daily in the miracle of His creation. He saw farming as an important way of life to be understood and appreciated. The more you understand agriculture, the more you are in awe of the Creator of it all. Yet sometimes when the wind is blowing and humidity is at 90%, I can understand why

Countdown to Thanksgiving: Twelve ways in Twelve days to help you make your Thanksgiving a celebrati

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. It never use to be but over the years our Thanksgiving has become more than a day: It's an event. What began as a gathering of our own small children around the Thanksgiving breakfast table for devotions, , writing down what we were thankful for, and listening to the story of the first Thanksgiving while eating a powdered donut, has spilled over to the table of family: siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas, gathering together to give thanks to our Lord. We cherish this time together as we recount the blessings of our Savior for the "Great Things He Has Done." We recount the history of those who have gone before us, sing hymns o
